Alex James Yu, MD

Alex Yu, MD, is a general pediatrician at Prisma Health in Greenville, South Carolina. Originally from Alabama, Yu completed his undergraduate and medical school education in Tennessee and moved to the upstate where for residency training in pediatrics.

Working in general pediatrics, Dr. Yu is able to see patients from birth through early adulthood, and he works in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. With patients from the newborn nursery to hospital medicine, he sees a lot of variety and assists families in many different roles. He chose general pediatrics because it was one of the areas in medicine where he felt most at home and loved showing up for work each day.

Dr. Yu's approach with my patients and families is full transparency and shared decision making – he feels that in order to have the best relationship and to inspire healthy choices, it’s important that families understand everything being discussed in a relatable way, and feels that this approach is often effective and rewarding for all involved.

Outside of work, Yu enjoys exploring Greenville and the surrounding areas, especially trying the many restaurants in the area. Otherwise, he is very much of a homebody, and enjoy taking it easy with a good book or movie/show to watch.
