About

Dr. Joshua Eskew is an academic orthopedic sports medicine surgeon specializing in the care of the shoulder, elbow, and knee, with a particular focus on overhead and throwing athletes. His practice includes shoulder instability, rotator cuff and labral injuries, elbow UCL reconstruction (Tommy John surgery), and complex or revision shoulder and elbow surgery.
Dr. Eskew completed his orthopedic surgery residency in Greenville and his sports medicine fellowship at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, the nation's No. 1 ranked hospital for orthopedics by U.S. News & World Report. At HSS he served as Administrative Chief Fellow and cared for athletes at every level, including the New York Mets and St. John's University men's basketball. That training shaped both his surgical technique and his belief that the highest level of musculoskeletal care belongs in every community, not only in major cities. He currently serves as a team orthopedic surgeon for Presbyterian College athletics and the Hub City Spartanburgers.

Dr. Eskew takes time to understand the whole of his patient’s life, the work they return to on Monday, the sport they love, the yard they keep up, the children they lift, and the things they hope to still be doing in twenty years. Two people with the same MRI often need very different plans, and the right plan comes from understanding the life the injury interrupted.

From there, his goal is clarity. Dr. Eskew wants every patient to understand their injury, understand the options available to them, and feel confident in the plan they build together. Surgery is one tool among several, and it is the right tool only when it serves the larger goal, which is returning a person to a full life on their own terms.

In his free time, Dr. Eskew enjoys spending time with his family, running, working out and rooting on the Georgia Bulldogs.
