Judith Thompson Burgis, MD

Judith Thompson Burgis, MD, received her medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, and completed her residency at Prisma Health Richland Hospital. She served in private practice in Columbia for eleven years before her faculty appointment in 2004, and was named chair of the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2011. Her areas of interest include vulvar disorders, pediatric/adolescent gynecology, and maternal morbidity and mortality. She continues to maintain a limited practice in comprehensive obstetrics and gynecology.

Dr. Burgis is an active member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology and the South Atlantic Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
