Phillip John Prest, DO

Phillip J. Prest, DO, FACOS, FACS, has worked in the Division of Acute Care Surgery at Prisma Health Richland Hospital since 2015. He earned his medical degree and completed his general surgery residency training at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then completed fellowship training in trauma and surgical critical care at Emory University/Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

Dr. Prest is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery in both general surgery and surgical critical care and is a fellow in the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. An associate professor of clinical surgery at the University of South Carolina Floyd School of Medicine, he serves as the director of the surgical clerkship and the associate program director for the general surgery residency program. He is engaged in multiple research projects addressing surgical education, nutrition and critical care.
