Alexandria Leigh Hawkinson, PA

Alexis Hawkinson, PA-C, is a family medicine physician assistant who provides comprehensive, patient-centered care for individuals and families across all stages of life. Originally from Chapin, South Carolina, Alexis is a proud Gamecock, having completed her undergraduate education at the University of South Carolina Honors College. She went on to complete training at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, when she received her master's degree in physician assistant studies. Alexis was drawn to family medicine because of the opportunity to treat a wide variety of conditions while building long-term relationships with patients and caring for entire families – not just their health care needs, but also their lives. She values the unique ability to see multiple generations and be a consistent presence in her patients’ care over time. Her care philosophy is rooted in teamwork, active listening and collaboration. Alexis believes the best outcomes occur when patients feel heard, respected and fully involved in their treatment plans. She is especially passionate about creating a safe, welcoming environment for patients who may feel anxious about medical visits, ensuring their concerns are thoroughly addressed. She enjoys practicing in a collaborative environment where providers support one another, continually learn and strive to deliver the highest quality care. The most rewarding part of Alexis’s work is building meaningful relationships with her patients and providing a comfortable space where they feel empowered to return for ongoing care. Outside of work, she enjoys baking, trying new recipes, listening to true-crime podcasts and documentaries, working on puzzles, and spending time with her husband, friends, family, and her two cats, Crouton and Pickles.
